For mechanics

Online quote requests for mechanics that arrive ready to price

Online quote requests for mechanics should not mean a vague message and a guess. On Motorfy, each request lands in your portal with the vehicle and the job already filled in, so you can reply with a price and your earliest slot straight away.

Free to join. You set your own prices. Decline any request that does not suit.

What a quote request actually contains

The driver picks a service or describes the problem in their own words, then adds their car and any photos. You see the vehicle, the work needed and the photos in your portal, and you get a notification so a new request does not sit unnoticed.

Whether you run a garage or a small mechanic business, receiving quote requests online means you are not stuck answering the phone with grease on your hands. That is a lot more to go on than a missed call that says the car is making a noise. You can price the job as it was described, you know which car you are quoting for, and you can do it between tasks.

Replying to a request

Requests do not wait forever. If nobody responds in time, the request expires, so keep an eye on your notifications.

Read the details

Check the car, the job and the photos. If something is unclear, ask the driver in chat.

Set your price

Quote the job the way you normally would, at your own price.

Add your earliest slot

Drivers see your price and your earliest slot together, which makes the choice easy.

When the problem is not obvious

Honest mechanics know that a noise or a warning light rarely tells the whole story. Drivers on Motorfy do not need to know the exact fix before they ask, and workshops can quote for an inspection or diagnosis first.

Once the car has been looked at, the driver can come back and request quotes for the actual repair. That is fair to everyone: the workshop prices the inspection properly, and the customer is not guessing at the repair price.

Keep WOF, service and brake quotes simple

Most of the routine work can go in a single quote. You can bundle a service into the WOF, or add the pads and rotors you know the car is due for. If you find something else once the car is on the hoist, sort it out with the driver in chat before going ahead.

Online quote requests for mechanics: is it worth the switch?

For many garages the answer is yes, as long as your quotes are clear. The driver will see your quote next to others, so spell out what is included. Our guide on how to win more jobs from online quotes covers the habits that help.

Joining Motorfy is free and workshops are reviewed before they can quote. Currently live in Auckland, Tauranga, Mt Maunganui and expanding. See what a typical request looks like on the mechanics page.

Questions workshops ask

What do I see in a quote request?

You see the driver's car, the job they have picked or described and any photos they have added, in your portal and as a notification.

Can I talk to the driver about the job?

Yes. You can chat with the driver in the app, before or after they accept a quote, so you can confirm details without phone tag.

Do I have to quote every request?

No. If a job does not fit your schedule or your skills, decline it. There is no penalty.

Can I quote for an inspection when the fault is unclear?

Yes. Workshops can quote for an in-person inspection or diagnosis, and the driver can then request quotes for the repair itself.

What happens if I do not reply in time?

The request expires. Keep an eye on your portal notifications so you do not miss work you would like to quote.
